Review

e-Sword 7.9.8 is a program to study the Bible.

In it´s site, www.e-sword.net, you can obtain a huge list of addons for this program, like Bibles (in lots of languages and versions), Commentaries, Bible Dictionaries, Graphics, Devotions, Extras and Step Libraries.

You can read every book of the bible, copy and paste paragraphs for your study (shown on the right panel), search for a specific word, and then add search results to verse list, print them or copy them to the clipboard or your study. You can instruct the program to perform searches in the entire Bible, only in the Old Testament or only in the New Testament.

e-Sword 7.9.8 lets you import files in .rtf or .txt formats, use the included text editor to write your own comments, use the built in thesaurus, replace words with synonyms, check spelling and use every function a word editor has.

The STEP Reader allows you to read other texts that you´ve imported. You can even have a prayer request to schedule prayers to be said on certain days.
Advantages
  • A very convenient tool for the Bible student and teacher.
Disadvantages
  • None.

I have used E-Sword practically since it came out, It is at least as good as Bible study software costing hundreds of dollars. Some of the resources (those still under copyright) Do, but there are more than enough modern and older translations, commentaries and dictionaries for in depth study available for free both at the site, at the Yahoo users group, and various other on line locations.

Love it! Thanks God & Thanks Rick Meyers (& team ... or is it just Rick?)

The base software is "just Rick". But there is a very active user group on Yahoo that produces modules that are excellent. Including interlinear translations with embedded Strong's numbers.
